A pressure equalizing and foam eliminating cap for a container. The cap (104) includes a thread (108), an annular seal (124), a spring (128), and a gas permeable membrane (136). The cap allows the closure to be fully sealed in a first state (Fig. 1A), pressure to be vented in the closure in a second partially opened state (Fig. 1B) and contents of the container to be dispensed in a third fully opened state (Fig. 1C).
