Laminated truss manufacturing method using round timber

摘要

Round timber is sawn into sections, the sections are marked for faults, classified acc. to optical and mechanical criteria, and the faults are notched out. Additional criteria to determine the number and/or position of faults are used to create an additional quality classification, and these have priority over other optical and/or mechanical criteria. Sections showing too many faults acc. to the additional criteria, are ejected from the manufacturing process. The additional criteria are formed by the absolute number of faults relative to a defined section length, and the smallest distance between two faults on one section.
