The system has at least one antenna (10,20) consisting of at least an input stage (101-103,201-203) in the form of patch antenna elements, and a focussing arrangement (104,204) in the form of a dielectric lens. The antenna forms at least two antenna lobes (11-113,211-213). At least one antenna lobe can be used to transmit and receive the radar signals, and at least one other lobe can be used only to receive radar signals. The lobes are associated with an antenna and lie in a plane.
