The arrangement has locking devices (1), apparatus (2) and has each device in its closed state blocking the access to at least one apparatus and in this state, the operation of the apparatus is freed. In the open state of the device, the operation of each apparatus assigned to it is blocked. The devices each have an optical sensor (5) with a transmitter (6) and a receiver (7). Only in the closed state of the device do coded optical signals from the transmitter reach the receiver. The sensors are connected to a central evaluation unit with redundant architecture into which the signals from the receiver are read and then cyclically tested. The apparatus operation is freed or blocked by this evaluation unit.
