Sealing arrangement between two concentric movable machine parts

Machine parts (2,3), which are concentric and move against each other, have a sealing arrangement comprising a sealing ring (10) made of elastic material in a groove (20) of a machine part, with a U-shaped axial cross-section, open toward the other machine part. The groove also contains a prestressing ring (6) made of rubber elastic material. The sealing ring has a low-pressure-side leg (11) and a high-pressure-side leg (13), the two legs being joined by a connecting arm (12). Before assembly, the low-pressure-side leg extends radially further towards the peripheral surface (4) and the high-pressure-side leg. When fitted, the sealing ring is tilted towards the high-pressure side.
