Clamping member for joining tubes having wedge components

Tubes (7) are used in buses for passengers to steady themselves. The tubes are joined by a connector (2) having a clamping member formed by a wedge-shaped extension (3) and a separate wedge (4), which is displaced using a screw (5) on the inclined plane (6) of the extension. The clamping member is inserted in the tube and the wedge is pressed against the inside wall of the tube. A flattened face (9) on the wedge produces two additional pressure points. A cable channel (8), open at the side, is provided to allow cables with small plugs to be passed through the connector, which is closed by a cap (10).
