Prodn of quartz glass bodies

To form quartz glass bodies, silicon dioxide (SiO2) particles are deposited on the cylinder mantle surface of a rotating mandrel. During deposition, a high temperature is maintained at least at one end zone of the blank, at the glazing temperature range, so that the mean relative density is held at a value of at least 60% of the theoretical density of the quartz glass. The holder gives a grip in or at the glazing zone.
