The seat has an adjuster for regulating various moveable and deformable elements which are grouped together in a multi-function device and provide a way of altering the chair users position. The way for altering one or more of the elements is via an external command point (5,8). A first command is carried out by rotation of a first axle at the command point, a second by a second coaxial axis and a third by movement of the second axis along the first axis. Raising of the seat is by use of a pneumatic system with a compressed gas cylinder, tilting by a system with a coiled spring which is tensioned accordingly, the multi-position feature is more accurate use of the separate position features.
