Production of 2-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape

A process for the production of pressure-sensitive, double- sided adhesive tape comprises: (a) feeding a rubber-based carrier material (I) into a screw extruder in which it is heated by heaters on the extruder, freed from volatiles under reduced pressure in a degassing zone, homogenised and brought to the required temperature; (b) applying a barrier layer from another melting/feeding system to both sides of (I) in a coextrusion adapter; (c) transferring the resulting intermediate composite to a 3-channel sheet die and extruding to form a uniform tape; (d) applying a melt adhesive over both sides of the tape in the sheet die with the aid of a suitable melting/feeding system; and (e) applying the tape to an anti-adhesive substrate.
