<p>A process for producing ribitol by culturing a trichosporonoides in a sugar-containing aqueous medium under aerobic conditions, removing the microbial cells from the obtained culture, and adding an alcohol having 1 to 3 carbon atoms to the supernatant thus obtained to crystallize ribitol. Thus, ribitol can efficiently be prepared from inexpensive sugars through one-step fermentation.</p> |
