The fuse insert comprises a device body (2) carrying two plug parts (4), along which a melt conductor (6) is arranged, for electrically connecting the plug parts. The body is a cylindrical, insulating reed (2), in which the fusible conductor is embedded in a spark prevention medium (5). Terminating caps (3) are fastened at the fronts of the insulating reed, and are connected with flat connectors (4) which serve as plug parts. The longitudinal axis (9) of the connectors proceeds crosswise to the longitudinal axis (8) of the insulating reed, and their flat sides proceed parallel to the base of the cylindrical reed.
