The invention concerns an assembly for handling a hypodermic syringe comprising a case (1) for containing the needle (2) and a supporting element (15). The case comprises a sheath (3) and a cap (4). The supporting element (15) comprises a perforation (16) the diameter of which is slightly greater than that of the sheath (3) and a bearing surface (17) for limiting the penetration of the sheath (3) in this perforation. The sheath (3) and the bearing surface (17) are arranged such that the part of the sheath (3) not flush with the supporting element (15) after the sheath (3) has been engaged in said perforation (16) does not allow a sufficient grasp unless the cap (4) is fixed for removing the sheath (3) out of the perforation (16).
