A plate 11 for injecting additives into a fluid stream in a pipeline has a central aperture 6 with a cruciform array of radial spokes 7. Some of the spokes are provided with additive inlet passages 14 having discharge outlets 15 that increase in size towards the centre of the aperture. Other spokes enclose or mount sensors such as temperature sensors (18, Figure 4) for monitoring the condition of the fluid in the pipeline. The aperture matches the cross section of the pipeline and the plate is provided with holes 17 for bolting it between sections of the pipeline. A similar plate with sensors only may be mounted upstream of the injection plate 11. Instead of the plate and radial spokes the cruciform array with discharge outlets may be machined from a cylindrical metal block (see Figure 8). |
