A novel and effective method for treating Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) in patients, by administration of an effective amount of vitamin-D3 receptor (VDR) agonist. VDR agonists are capable of inhibiting the growth of KS cells in culture by repressing the levels of important autocrine growth factors, IL-6 and IL-8, in KS cells. The VDR agonists may be administered to KS patients topically, orally, or parentally. Substantive improvement in KS lesions is expected by topical treatment with an effective dose of a VDR agonist. |
