A window moving system for an automobile wherein a window glass 1 is slidably supported for movement between an open position and a closed position on a support device 3 controlled by motor means (not shown), there being sensing means 13 located between a lower edge of the glass and the support. The lower edge of the glass 1 is mounted within the support device 3 for limited movement relative thereto so that if an opposite edge of the glass 1 meets an obstruction, the sensing means 13 will be activated to send a signal to or to deactivate the motor means. Preferably, the sensing means 13 is resiliently deformable and consists of an elastomer extrusion which incorporates two conductive elements separated by an air space. The sensing means may be supplemented by springs 15 and further switches may be provided to deactivate the sensing means 13. |
