PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and small identification device discriminating between passengers and wheelchairs. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a first element array 1A, which comprises light projecting elements 1a to 1c and light receiving elements 2a to 2c arranged sequentially and vertically from near a floor face 6 to the height of the wheel radius of a wheelchair, and a second element array 18, which comprises light projecting elements 1d to 1n and light receiving elements 2d to 2n arranged sequentially and vertically above the first element array 1A up to the height or the wheel radius. While at least one of the light receiving elements 28 to 2n of the second element array 18 keeps blocking light, the light receiving elements 2a to 2n of the first element array 1A take a time-series light blocking pattern that coincides with a predetermined time-series light blocking pattern, thereby identifying the passage of the wheelchair. |
