PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for continuously and readily producing a copolymer of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid and an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid by using a simple, tubular and continuous polymerization apparatus having high productivity. SOLUTION: This method for producing a copolymer comprises the continuous production of a copolymer of (a) an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid, a salt thereof or an anhydride thereof, and (b) an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid or a salt thereof by using a tubular continuous polymerization apparatus having a charging opening of the unsaturated dicarboxylic acid installed at the terminal part, and two or more charging openings of the unsaturated monocarboxylic acid installed in the downstream direction of the terminal. The polymerization is performed by using a polymerization initiator of 7.5-90wt.% based on the total amount of the components (a) and (b), charging the whole amount of the component (a) to the charging opening installed in the terminal part, charging 30-80wt.% of the component (b) to the first charging opening installed in the downstream direction of the terminal and further charging the balance of the component (b) to the second and the following charging openings. |
