SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR HANDLING SOFTWARE INTERRUPTION HAVING PASSING ARGUMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the program efficiency and speed performance of a multiprocessor system by providing the soft ware interruption instruction with an argument filed for passing information from a program requesting a software interruption. SOLUTION: In a multimedia multiprocessor system 100, a host processor 102 is equipped with control logic for executing the software interruption instruction so as t initiate a software interruption in a multimedia signal processor 104. Further, the multimedia signal processor 104 is equipped with control logic responding to a software interruption for accessing the information of the argument filed. The software interruption instruction includes processors having argument fields for passing information from the host processor 102 to the multimedia signal processor 104.
