摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent collapse of a tunnel wall or energy loss resulting from an excessive pressing force, by automatically controlling the pressing force of a gripper jack in accordance with a detected hydraulic force of a thrust jack in a tunnel excavating machine. SOLUTION: The main beam 2 of a tunnel excavating machine 1 rotatably supports a cutter head 4 through a cutter head support 3 at the front end thereof and provides the gripper 6 so as to press it to a tunnel wall by a gripper jack 5 at the rear part thereof and also provides it so as to slide it back and forth by a thrust jack. The detected hydraulic pressure of the thrust jack 7 and the gripper jack 5 is inputted in a controller to regulate the hydraulic pressure of the gripper jack 5 in accordance with the hydraulic pressure of the thrust jack 7 through a servo valve. Accordungly, the pressing force FG of the gripper varies in accordance with the reactive force Fth of excavation which varies according to the geological condition of the excavating ground. In this way, collapse of the tunnel wall and energy loss can be prevented due to an excessive pressing force FG of the gripper.
