Bags for golf clubs. -A case or holder for carrying golf clubs comprises a substantially rigid rectangular receptacle a formed from material such as covered plywood and provided with an indeformable mouth a<5> and one or more substantially rigid longitudinal partitions c, and a flexible hood d attached to the mouth and having means for obtaining ready access to the interior of the receptacle. The bottom end of the case is formed of metal covered with leather or raw hide and is secured in place by a metal channel member b'. The mouth of the case is sloped as shown. the hood d is formed of waterproof textile material or flexible leather and is provided along its top and side edges d<1>, d<2> with a sliding-clasp fastener, the clasp d' of which, when the hood is in closed position, may be padlocked to a staple g. The hood is permanently secured to the mouth of the bag for about half its length, and the free end is provided with a slotted extension f<1> for engagement with a pivoted hasp f<2> that may be locked by a turn button f<5>, the detachable edge being further secured by the engagement of a key-hole slot f<6> therein with a headed stud f<7>. When the bag is in use for play, the hood is folded on itself the edges are connected by the sliding clasp, and a buckled strap is passed around it to hold it against the outside of the bag, in which position it does not impede access to the handle and sling e<1>. A pocket may be attached to the inner surface of the hood. Tees h may be carried in pockets formed in the inner edge of the hood, or alternatively by pockets formed by riveting a strap h<3> to a metal plate h<1>, Fig. 6, that is carried within guides on one of the partitions c.</p> |
