摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the light projecting efficiency, and while to lower the driving voltage, and to simplify the structure by forming two pairs of electrodes to be used for maintaining electrode in separate layers, and providing a dielectric layer between them, and while providing a MgO film at a pact, which contacts with a discharge gap of a front surface board. SOLUTION: Two pairs of maintaining electrodes, an X-electrode 7 and a Y-electrode 8 to be arranged in a front surface board 1 are formed in separate layers of the front surface board 1, and a dielectric layer 11 is formed between them. With this structure, two pairs of the electrodes can be arranged sufficient close to each other, and finally, they can be overlapped with each other. Discharge is started in the condition that the discharge starting voltage is always at the minimum, and since discharge is spread to the whole area of the electrode width, discharge in a wide range can be generated at a remarkably low starting voltage. Discharge starting voltage is lowered and lifetime of a panel can be prolonged by forming the Y electrode 8 of a transparent electrode and providing a MgO film 12 at a part, which contacts with a discharge gap of the front surface board l.
