POLYNUCLEOTIDE AND POLYPEPTIDE RELATING TO BENIGEN PROSTATIC HYPERTROPHY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polynucleotide that comprises a polynucleotide coding for a specific polypeptide to benign prostatic hypertrophy including a specific amino acid sequence and is useful for detection and diagnosis of benign prostatic hypertrophy. SOLUTION: This polynucleotide comprises the following new and isolated polynucleotide members: a polynucleotide containing at least 70% homology to the polynucleotide coding for the polypeptide containing amino acid sequences of formulas I-III, a polynucleotide complementary to said polynucleotide, and polynucleotides containing at least 15 bases in the above-cited polynucleotides. These polynucleotides are specific to benign prostatic hypertrophy and are useful for its detection and diagnosis. These polynucleotides are prepared by preparing a cDNA library from the mRNA originating from human prostate in a usual manner and screening with a probe bearing a partial base sequence labeled therewith.
