PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubbing device capable of executing an orientation treatment with high quality. SOLUTION: Rubbing cloth 12 comprises a woven or knitted fabric of rayon of <=2 denier in diameter and >=400 pieces/cm<2> in the density of the filaments on the surface. This rubbing cloth 12 is wound around the rubbing drum 11 of the rubbing device. Further, the pushing depth of the rubbing cloth 12 to a rubbing object 17 placed on a stage 14 is regulated to 0.2 to 0.3mm. In succession, the rubbing drum 11 is rotated and the stage 14 is moved, by which the surface of the rubbing object 17 is rubbed. |
