PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquefaction process which can be practically used in a production scale, can reduce the cost of treatment and apparatus, and exhibits an excellent productivity by liquefying a material to be liquefied by transporting, at a high temp. under continuous stirring, a mixture comprising the material and a chemical which acts as a solvent. SOLUTION: A material to be liquefied (e.g. a substance contg. a cellulose component, such as wood flour produced in lumbering) is liquefied as follows: the material and a chemical (e.g. phenol and sulfuric acid as the catalyst) with acts as a solvent are charged into a vessel 1 of a mixing apparatus A in a specified ratio and mixed with a blender 3; then the gate valve 4 of the vessel 1 is opened to cause the resultant mixture to fall down into a cylinder 5 of a supply apparatus B; then the mixture is continuously supplied with a rotating screw feeder 7 driven by a motor 6 from the top of the cylinder 5 into a cylinder 8 of a thermally liquefying apparatus C; and the mixture is successively transported under continuous stirring through the cylinder 8 with a rotating screw feeder 9 driven by the motor 6 and simultaneously is reacted under indirect heating with a heat medium oil present in a jacket 12. |
