PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent troubles from generating at the time of a re-usage after being left to stand even when the ink jet printer has been left to stand for a long period of time under a non-printing state wherein there are no dischargings and drawings of an ink by a method wherein a thickened ink removing process for the printing head is periodically performed based on a measurement result of a clock measuring means. SOLUTION: This ink jet printer 1 is equipped with a main body control part 100, a humidity sensor 10 which measures a relative humidity, a printing part 20 (a thickened ink removal executing means) which performs a flushing, and a power source circuit 40, etc. The overall motion of the ink jet printer 1 is controlled by the main body control part 100, and for the main body control part 100, a CPU 110, a memory 120, a timer 140 to measure an elapsed time, etc., of a non-printing period, and an operation circuit 150 which performs a detect-operation of a flushing timing based on the information from the humidity sensor and the timer 140, etc., are connected to each other.
