摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of vertical bend by uniformly cooling the entire width of flanges at the begining of cooling shapes and adjusting cooling capacity in the upper and lower parts of the flanges in every part whenever the cooling stage is progressed from about the time when the surface temp. in part of the flanges is lower than a specified temp.. SOLUTION: A cooling device 5 is provided along both sides of a wide flange shape transporting line 8 at the rear of a finishing mill 4. The cooling device 5 is divided into three zones of a 1st zone 5a, 2nd zone 5b and 3rd zone 5c at intervals of about 15m in the longitudinal direction. In the cooling of the flanges of the wide flange shape, the entire width cooling is executed at the beginning of cooling and, when the indicated temp. of the flanges is lowered to 500-650 deg.C, cooling in the lower part of the flanges is weakened or stopped, or cooling in the upper part of the flanges is strengthened. In this way, the uniform cooling in the upper and lower parts of the flanges is enabled, thus preventing the generation of deffects in shape such as the vertical bend of the wide flange shaped.
