<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the compression resistance and wear resistance of a carpet underlay cushion structure. SOLUTION: The carpet underlay cushion structural body 10 includes a carrier layer of an open cellular polyurethane foam material 12. At this time, this elastic foam material 12 is substantially, completely and uniformly impregnated with a carboxylated styrene-butadiene rubber latex blend. This carboxylated styrene-butadiene rubber latex blend contains (a) about 70 to about 95wt.% styrene-butadiene rubber latex and (b) about 5 to about 30wt.% carboxylated styrene-butadiene rubber latex. The impregnated foam material 12 is dried after the impregnation to form the open cellular foamed elastic composite cushion structure 10. The open cells thereof partially contain the carrier layer 14 of the polyurethane foam material 12.</p> |
