Raw fibers for pile fabrics characteristically componed of 20-60 percent of flat acrylic filaments which have a flatness A/B (A: the lenght of longer side of the filament cross section, B: the lenght of shorter side of the filament cross section) in the range of 5-25 and a fineness of 2-30 denier and provided on each longer side with ribs continuously extending to the axial direction of filament and having a width W of B/2 to 3B and a height H of B/2 to 2B in number of 1 to A/2W; 20-50 percent of shrinkable acrylic filaments having a shrinkability of at least 15 percent and a fineness of 1 to 5 denier; and at most 60 percent of another acrylic filament.
