The present invention concerns to an alkali oxidation improved process, and a sugars aqueous medium having one or several primary alcohol functions by hypohalites and in presence of a catalyst constituted by a binary or tertiary alkyl nitroxyl. Process is very interesting because oxidation is developed in presence of high sugar concentrations. Products obtained by this process, some of them new ones, can be utilized as builders in lye compositions.
