Starting device for internal combustion engine

The starting device has an electric starting motor (10) driving a drive shaft (13). The drive shaft is connected via a planetary transmission driving a freewheeling mechanism to the driven shaft (25) carrying the drive sprocket (26) for the engine. A damping element is fitted between the planetary transmission and an intermediate bearing (43) for the freewheeling mechanism. The damping element consists of a rubber element vulcanised to two holding rings (68, 69), permitting relative torsion between the diving and driven sides.
