<p>PURPOSE:To effectively use the whole element as a varistor by using a surface high resistance layer type varistor porcelain sintered body, and constituting a structure wherein a pair of electrodes is arranged on the sintered body, which electrodes contain facing end surface parts and stretch on side surface parts and flat plane parts. CONSTITUTION:A surface high resistance layer part 3 of a surface high resistance layer type varistor sintered body 1 is formed by heat treatment in the air after baking. Silver paste is spread so as to contain facing end surfaces and stretch on the side surface parts and flat plane parts, and electrodes 2a, 2b are baked and formed. The restriction of distance between the paired electrodes may be larger than or equal to the thickness of the surface high resistance layer 3 exhibiting the varistor function. The thickness of the surface high resistance layer 3 is usually about 0.2mm and very thin. Thereby the whole element can be effectively used as a varistor, and miniaturization is enabled.</p> |
