Disclosed is a protective case for disc-shaped recording medium such as compact discs, diskettes and the like. The protective case consists of an originally flat blank made of paper, cardboard, synthetic material or a similar sheet-shaped, partially flexible material, which is divided into several sections (10, 12, 14). Said sections can be folded along folding edges (18, 20, 22) in order to form a jacket (36) for the disc-shaped recording medium and can be closed by a cover (16) formed by an additional foldable section. The blank has a length/width ratio of approximately 3 to 1. The folding edges between the reverse side (10) and the front side (12) and a longitudinal side of the blank enclose an acute angle ( alpha ). The same angle ( beta ) is formed between the folding edge in-between the closing strip and the front side (12) and the other folding edge. Both folding edges (18, 20) comprise one common point of intersection in a longitudinal side of the blank.
