The fan (100) is fitted into a mounting wall which is provided with an opening in which the fan (100) is held and fastened. The fan (100) has a frame type base housing (10) with a grid type base. It also has a filter mat (60) inserted in the base housing (10). A design frame or cover housing (30) is positioned on the housing (10) and covers the filter mat (60). A fan motor (71) is fastened to the housing (10). The latter (10) is provided on its circumference with a screw-free quick fastening device (50) for mounting the fan (100) into the opening in the wall. The fan (100) can be mounted such that it is sealed against high frequencies. The fan (100) has a metal insert (200) connected with the housing (10). The insert (200) is made of a frame and a grid type base. The metal insert (200) is connected to the base housing (10) by means of screw, rivet or clamp devices.
