For an electro-hydraulically controlled automatic gear box (2), in which shifting is performed by overlapping, a method is proposed for increasing the spontaneity, in which a variable hold time is introduced for a disengaging clutch. This variable hold time is a function of the rotational speed differential of a gear box input speed (nT) and the temperature of the hydraulic fluid ( THETA ).
