The frame is incorporated in the backrest of a vehicle seat. It has a lower cross support member (6) which has flanges (7, 8) so formed that they partially overlap the seat backrest side sections (2, 3). The arrangement enables the two flanges to be secured to the side sections, using screws or rivets (16, 17). A wire curved strip (9) makes a positive fit connection in the recesses (4).
