The signals to be transmitted are of the ADSL type or variants thereof. The two adjacent wire pairs (a,b; c,d) through common ''twisting'' form a ''quad'' and produce an ''appearance phantom'' through the four wires crossing two-by-two to connect to one another. Through the crossways connection with one another, a symmetry appertains which is better than that of a single wire pair, whereby the electrical and/or magnetic disturbance fields cause a reduced difference signal between the wire pairs. Impedance is less, so that the disturbance fields cause a smaller difference signal between the wire pairs.
