The method involves moving a flap segment of the display from a first stable position into a second stable position with a subsequent and/or simultaneous position feedback, by sending one and/or several current or voltage pulses in the same direction through the excitation coil of the electromagnetic activation mechanism. Each of the two movement directions of the segment is associated with a polarity of the current in the excitation coil. The current or voltage pulses have a sinusoidal, rectangular, triangular, and/or logarithmic course with respect to time.
