The device has a nozzle body (2) along whose central axis (A) the laser beam (L) is fed to emanate from the tip of the nozzle body to enable the processing of a workpiece. The nozzle body has a liquid chamber (16) partly filled with a volatile liquid fed to the tip region. A cooling device (17) is arranged at the end of the liquid chamber remote from the tip of the nozzle body. The cooling body can be contained within the liquid chamber.
