The height measuring out unit includes a unit foot (4), at least one moving arm carrying a measuring or marking out tool (13), connected direct or indirectly with the unit foot. The arm can be held in any desired position, across a compensation system. The compensation system (1) is provided with a hydraulic system, which is lockable in any of the desired positions. The height measuring and marking out unit has several arms (2). The arms (2a,bd,.....be) are connected with each other across swivel joints (3). The compensation system is arranged between a first arm (2a) and the unit foot, or between a horizontal and a vertical movable swivel joint. The swivel joint is supported by an electro motor drive.
