In a method of wetting the external surface of multiple glass or plastic glazing, especially with a cleaning liquid, the edge-sealed interspace (1) between the exterior pane (2) and the interior pane (3) is filled with a liquid which is transported through channels (5) to the external surface (4) of either or both panes (2, 3). One or each channel-containing pane consists of porous plastic or glass, manufactured from nanoparticles (11). The liquid contains added cleaning aids, especially anionic, cationic and/or nonionic surfactants or phosphates, metaphosphates and/or polyphosphates. Also claimed is multiple glazing as described above, the interspace (1) having a connection (6) for liquid supply from an external reservoir (7).
