The liquid (24) is heated by a mixture (20) of propellant charge powder and pyrotechnic heating mixture under high pressure, the liquid being subsequently dried in a sequence of vortex chambers divided up by perforated plates. When the intermediate ring (8) is removed the plate (11) acts as a drive plate, and the charge (20) is fired by an electrically ignited (3) charge (21) via bores. Firing charge (21) and igniter (3) are arranged in the igniter housing (5), with the liquid (24), perforated e.g. drive plate (11), propellant charge (20) and housing (5) held in a housing cylinder (1). The igniter housing (5) is screwed into one end of the housing cylinder (1) and a holding plate (25) screwed into the far end. The perforated plates (11-14) are fronted by thin barrier films or foils (16-19). The electrical or bolt-type igniter comes with or without transmission charge (28) and fitting (31). An additional heating mixture (2) is enclosed between the vortex chambers thus equalising heat losses and reducing the individual chamber loading. If the housing (5) is dispensed with, the mixture (20) is ignited by an impact device or incandescent carbon or graphite conductive wire.
