The present invention relates to a solid composition including a gum material and an essential oil wherein the solid composition releases vapour containing the essential oil when exposed to an effective flow of gas. The present invention also relates to a method of diffusing an essential oil into the atmosphere and to a method of disinfecting air conditioning systems.
