Direct oxidn. of light alkanes is effect by contact in the presence of an oxidant with a catalyst comprising Mn and a crystalline alumino-phosphate structural framework, into which at least a portion of the Mn is incorporated. The amt. of Mn in the catalyst is 3-13 wt.%. The light alkane is selected from methane (pref.), ethane, propane, natural gas and mixts. of these. The oxidn. is carried out at 200-450 (30-400) [deg]C and 400-1200 (800) psig.
