<p>The tire (10) has a pair of side walls (12), a tread (14) and a pair of beads (15) including circular members (16) made of a durable synthetic material. Each circular member (16) preferably has the same tensile strength as steel and can withstand temperatures in excess of 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Each circular member (16) is preferably made of a unitary construction and therefore is completely solid throughout. The shape of the cross section can vary from circular to elliptical to rectangular to square to triangular. To facilitate attachment of rubber to the circular members (16), the top surface of the circular cross section can be made flat. In addition, the outer surface of all types of cross sections can be made with a coated surface or scratched or grated such that rubber will adhere to the circular members (16).</p> |
