<p>The method of attaching a switch housing (12) to a panel (62) includes forming a pair of spaced cut-outs (31) in the switch housing. An elongate spring member (48) is formed with a portion of it extending generally transverse to the direction of elongation. A third cut-out is formed in the housing and the spring is positioned on the inside of the housing with the transverse extending portion extending through the third cut-out outside the housing. Portions of the third housing are deformed and the spring is retained on it. A pair of tabs (44,46) are formed in the surface of the panel and a cut-out is then formed in the panel. The housing cut-outs are disposed over the panel tabs and the housing is pivoted about the tabs thereby deflecting the spring and locking the transverse spring portion into the panel cut-out.</p> |
