A method for manufacturing a metallized paper material comprises: (a) providing a piece of paper material bearing a wax or lubricant layer; (b) coating one side of the piece of paper with a metal; (c) contacting one side of the piece of paper with the other side of another piece of paper of the same type, or with the other side of another part of the same piece of paper; (d) keeping the surfaces in contact so as to form a slip layer by migration of the wax or lubricant onto the metal coating; and (e) separating the paper surfaces.
