The storage block (1) consists of a nest of thermoplastic pipes. The pipes (3) are round in cross-section and form the heating surfaces of gas channels. The individual pipes are welded together at their outer surfaces. The novel storage block can reduce the rate of deposit of permanent impurities on the storage elements. In addition, the storage block is highly mechanically stable, requires little material and has a long useful life.
