Down-lead for optical waveguide cable in high voltage overhead line

The down-lead is for an optical cable (OC) with a cable cladding (CS) and at least one waveguide (LW). In the region of the down-lead, the cable (OC) is fed through an insulator. In the region of the insulator (IS) the cable cladding is removed forming a stepped or shoulder region. In this region only the optical waveguide (LW) and, if desired, its surrounding sleeve, is fed through. Tension elements may be provided in the region of the cable cladding and these may also be removed in the region of the insulation. A rod-type tension element may be provided which is connected e.g. by adhesive to the insulation. Preferably the length of the region in which only the waveguide and, if desired, its sleeves is fed inside the insulation, is between a quarter and three quarters, preferably two thirds of the length of the insulation.
