FIELD: continuous or semi-continuous casting of metal with direct cooling, specifically, casting of aluminium billets for rolling. SUBSTANCE: casting gear includes mould 1 with inlet hole 8 to feed molten metal and space 9 with outlet end face 11 that houses aids to feed water for direct cooling of molten metal and aids 4 to feed gas or air to reduce cooling effect, at least at initial stage of casting process. Aids 4 present slits or row of holes over perimeter of mould to supply air or gas for formation of air-and-gas jacket intended for deviation of water jacket and/or for formation of air screen between water jacket and cast billet.
