<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability with respect to the malodor removal effect and also to reduce the hydrogen peroxide consumption by using a hydrogen peroxide aq. solution that is prepared by adding a nitrate to hydrogen peroxide and/or any of its derivatives, in the method. SOLUTION: In this method, a dilute hydrogen peroxide solution that is prepared by diluting an about 35% aq. hydrogen peroxide solution with water about five times, is added to excess sludge which is discharged from a sewage treatment plant and contains hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, etc., wherein potassium nitrate or sodium nitrate is further added as an activation assistant to the dilute hydrogen peroxide solution. At the time of comparing the change with time in concn. of hydrogen sulfide and methyl mercaptan in the excess sludge when the dilute hydrogen peroxide solution contg. the activation assistant is added to the sludge, with that when the dilute hydrogen peroxide solution contg. no activation assistant is added to the sludge, the dilute hydrogen peroxide solution contg. the activation assistant enables a remarkable reduction in malodorous component in the excess sludge and shows excellent durability with respect to its deodorization effect, as compared with the dilute hydrogen peroxide solution contg. no activation assistant.</p> |
